"Environmentally Friendly" Filtersorb SP3
There are two motivating reasons to desire a water softener. One reason is to protect household plumbing. When hard water is heated soluable calcium bicarbonate will precipitate to calcium carbonate. This scale creates substantial amounts of energy inefficiency and water pressure reduction. The other reason is because soft water is aesthetically desirous. Soft water is ideal for cleaning, bathing and laundering.
For over a hundred years people have been softening water by employing the traditional ion exchange salt using approach. For the past ten years Europeans have had access to CWG Filtersorb SP technology to soften water. This approach is revolutionary and the benefits of Filtersorb SP catalytic media are very similar to that of traditional water softening. After flowing through the provided pre-filter the water goes into the softener and is immediately softened. The troublesome hardness ions are transformed into precipitated nano crystals which stay suspended in water regardless of temperature increase. They are rendered harmless to your plumbing system and are no longer aesthetically problematic.
It is vital to understand that the Filtersorb SP3 is an up flow water conditioner. The catalytic precipitation process will only effectively work if the media lifts as the water passes through. Therefore it is essential the system NOT BE OVERSIZED. Be advised bigger is not necessarily better. Thus an 8 inch diameter tank is highly recommended for most typical household applications. This will treat up to 9.5 gallons per minute. Use the larger 9 inch diameter tank if flow rates are to exceed 9.5 gallons per minute.
To further enhance up flow efficiency we employ the Enpress Vortec distributor plate. This provides uniform distribution of the water which lifts the filter media optimizing the precipitation reaction.
